Tunisia forms Africa in cutting -edge cardiology

The first session of the tripartite training program “Cardiology for Africa” ​​started this Monday, July 7, 2025 at La Rabta Hospital in Tunis on Monday, July 7, 2025. This initiative is organized by the Tunisian Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

This training aims to strengthen the skills of African doctors in techniques for treating cardiovascular disease, in particular the implementation of cardiac valves.

She is supervised by a joint medical team, made up of five Tunisian cardiologists, under the direction of Dr Mohamed Sami Mourali, head of the Cardiology Service of the Rabta hospital, and five Japanese cardiologists, including Dr Shigeru Saito, director of interventional cardiology laboratories at Shonan Kamakura Hospital in Japan.

The session, which continues until July 9, welcomes 13 doctors from seven French -speaking African countries: Burkina Faso, Cameroon, CĂ´te d’Ivoire, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal.

This initiative marks an important step towards strengthening specialized medical skills in Africa and South-South cooperation reinforced by Japanese expertise.
