Tunisian Ons Jabeur (36th WTA) was eliminated as soon as she entered Roland Garros. She bowed in two sets (6-7, 0-6) against the Polish Magdalena Fręch (26th), this Tuesday in Paris.
Despite a favorable history against Fręch – which she had beaten twice in 2023 at Wimbledon and Indian Wells – Jabeur failed to impose her game on the Parisian clay.
Hanging in a very disputed first set, which she lost in the tie-break, the Tunisian then completely sold in the second round, taking a severe 6-0.
After a start -up season, this defeat confirms the difficulties encountered by the number one Arabic for women’s tennis.
The hope of a new start in Paris therefore goes out prematurely, while Fręch goes to the second round, where she could cross the road to the Czech Marketa Vondrousova.
