Sejnane icon, Jemaa the Dean of Potiers died today at the age of 81.
All of Tunisia knows Jemaa. This potter from the Sejnane region has shaped and cooked figurines for sixty years that she has worked.
Admired and respected, she often represented Tunisia during international fairs and craft events.
It is through her that Sejnane’s pottery was made known around the world and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Jemaa is no longer but what she accomplished will survive her. Peace to the soul of our human treasure and condolences to his family, relatives and friends as well as his many admirers and supports.
