Halm showers struck several regions of the KEF governorate at the start of the week, causing significant damage to crops. According to Abdelkarim Hidri, a member of the Regional Union of Agriculture and Fisheries, around 10,000 hectares were assigned to the 160,000 hectares cultivated this season.

In a declaration to the TAP, Hdiri said that the most affected delegations are Tajerouine, Dahmani and El Kassour. If 60% of farms are in good condition, 30% have signs of degradation, says Haidari.

During a field visit, a team made up of representatives of the Regional Directorate for Agricultural Development and Union noted the extent of the damage, especially in the areas of Aïn Fdhil (El Ksour) and Garn El Halfaya (Tajerouine)

The olive trees, in full bloom, have also suffered significant losses. Faced with this situation, farmers ask for the activation of the new regime of the natural disaster fund, whose approval by Parliament is expected soon, as said by the Minister of Agriculture, Azedine Ben Sheikh, during his visit to the KEF on Monday, April 21, 2025.
