A tragedy has started the Sâadia region, in the governorate of Sidi Bouzid, in the morning of Thursday, April 24, 2025. A 10 -year -old student, in the second year of primary education, lost his life after falling from the rear trunk of a light van used for school transport.
The drama occurred while the little girl went to school with her older sister, aged 12, aboard the vehicle. According to the first elements, the two children were transported to the back of the vehicle.
Alerted, the Regueb civil protection units intervened quickly, supported by a local hospital ambulance. The young victim, seriously injured in the head, was taken care of on the spot, but she died of her injuries during her transfer to the hospital establishment.
His sister, also injured in the accident, was taken to hospital. His days would not be in danger, according to the medical information available.
This drama once again relaunches the issue of student safety in rural areas, where the lack of adequate means of transport pushes many families to use precarious, even dangerous solutions.
The use of unsuitable vans or vehicles remains frequent in several regions of the interior of the country, despite multiple calls for school transport reform.
