Swarming of small black insects have invaded several sousse zones, notably in Khzema and in the southern districts of the city, arousing the concern of many residents this Tuesday evening.
Adel Sghir, head of environmental health service at the municipality of Sousse, explained that this sudden proliferation is linked to recent climatic conditions. The rains recorded in recent days, combined with an increase in temperatures and humidity, have favored the massive appearance of these insects.
At this stage, local authorities reassure the population: these insects are not carriers of disease and have no danger to human health. Samples will nevertheless be taken to determine the exact species and its origin.
Faced with this situation, the municipality of Sousse announced the launch of a major operation tomorrow. The program provides targeted interventions in green spaces and public gardens, including the uprooting weeds, cleaning waves and the use of suitable products to limit propagation.
An action plan that aims to quickly contain this temporary invasion, pending the results of the entomological analyzes.
