On March 11, 2025, a drama shook the city of Kasserine, where a four -year -old child, Haroun, was removed and then killed in excruciating circumstances. The incident took place in the Dachra region, a subdistrict of the Ezzouhour city, and quickly aroused lively indignation. The child’s body was found in the evening, around 8:15 p.m., in a neighboring valley after a man, his father, reported his disappearance in the morning.
The authorities, after investigations carried out by the investigative sub-department and the regional national guard units, quickly arrested two people linked to this heinous crime. The main suspect, a 21 -year -old man, confessed to being the author of this murder after being questioned. The latter was placed in detention, while a second suspect, a minor under the age of 13, was released after the accusation of complicity was withdrawn by the main suspect, who said he had acted alone.
The public prosecutor and spokesperson for the courts of Kasserine, Imed Omri, confirmed that the murder is described as “premeditated murder” under articles 201 and 202 of the penal code. If the suspect is fully recognized responsible for his actions, he risks the capital punishment. If his mental state is deemed altered, he could be interned in a psychiatric establishment.
Due to the irregularity and contradictions in his declarations, the investigating judge ordered tests to determine if the suspect had consumed narcotic substances at the time of the crime. Psychiatric examinations are also underway, because the suspect, who is in possession of a disability card, presents signs of mental disorders. A medical commission at the Hédi Chaker University Hospital in Sfax is currently assessing its mental capacities.
The first elements of the investigation made it possible to confirm that the child died of violent blows to the head, causing a fracture of the skull. Unlike rumors circulating on social networks, no sexual assault or decapitation attempt has been noted.
