The regional delegate for agricultural development in Tataouine, Monji Chniter, confirmed the continuation of the daily interventions of the delegation to treat the infested areas by the pilgrim locust. These actions follow surveillance and location operations of households in the locusts and their larvae in several regions of the governorate.
As of May 1, 2025, a total area of around 2018 hectares was treated, including 205 hectares specifically targeting young locusts. The interventions took place in various delegations from the region, both by land treatment – provided by the delegation teams and agricultural extension agents – and by air treatment via plane. The operations continue without interruption.
