A young man nicknamed the “Kélibia balafur” was arrested in the evening of Monday, May 5, 2025 by a judicial police team, supported by the Criminal Affairs Sub-Directorate, according to a well-informed source cited by Mosaic FM.
The suspect is accused of having attacked three women using a sharp object, in attacks perpetrated at different times during the past week.
These assaults, which aroused panic among the inhabitants of the city, recall the famous affair of the “balafur of the buttocks of Tunis”, a man who, in the early 2000s, had sown terror by targeting women in the streets of the capital by injuring them with stabbing weapons, especially at the level of the buttocks.
Thanks to a meticulous survey work carried out over three days, including the exploitation of the information network and the analysis of video surveillance images installed around aggression, the investigators managed to identify the suspect. He is a young man living in a neighboring city of Kélibia, hitherto unknown to the security services.
The public prosecutor has ordered police custody and the opening of an investigation for “stabbing assault on others”.
