Ons Jabeur relegated to the qualifications in Berlin after a historic fall in the WTA ranking

The start of the grass season promises to be a decisive turning point for Ons Jabeur, who must now go through the qualifications to access the main draw of the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin. An unprecedented situation for the Tunisian, relegated to 54th place in the world after a series of poor performance.

This 18 -row fall in the WTA ranking, formalized Monday, June 9, is one of the most striking of his career. It results in particular from premature elimination in Roland-Garros, where the Wimbledon finalist in 2022 and 2023 failed to defend her points. With 1,063 points on the clock, Jabeur leaves the world top 50 for the first time in several seasons.

This decline now forces the 30 -year -old player to start her Berlin campaign with qualifications, tomorrow, against the French Elsa Jacquemot (113rd WTA). In the event of a victory, she will face in the second round either the American Sofia Kenin (29th), or the Russian Erika Andreeva (99th), in a dense and raised table.

The 2025 season is difficult for Jabeur, undermined by recurring injuries and a lack of consistency, all factors that have weakened its place among the best players on the circuit.

As Wimbledon approaches, where she remains on two consecutive finals, Ons Jabeur must bounce back. The Berlin tournament represents a crucial opportunity to regain confidence, rhythm and points before the London Grand Chelem. For this, she will have to show that, despite the stop, her determination remains intact.
