A fire broke out this Monday, May 26, 2025 at 8:40 am on Monday, on an empty bus from the Tunis Transport Society (Transu), while traveling on the avenue of the Arab Maghreb Union, at the North Urban Center, in the direction of the Charguia depot.
The vehicle was entirely ravaged by the flames, without making a victim, told Tap Moez Triaâ, spokesperson for the National Office for Civil Protection.
According to the same source, traffic has been temporarily disrupted in the area due to the incident. The firefighters intervened quickly, mobilizing a tanker truck, an ambulance and a road rescue vehicle.
In a press release published shortly after the facts, the TransTu said that the fire started at 8:35 am at the engine of an empty articulated bus, while it was joining the deposit. The driver tried to master the flames using the on -board fire extinguisher, in vain. The speed of spread of the fire, especially in tires, required the intervention of the emergency services.
An investigation was opened by the company in the presence of its specialized committee to determine the exact causes of the incident. The technical teams of the TransTu were dispatched to the site to evacuate the damaged bus to the Charguia deposit.
