The tumble continues for Ons Jabeur. Tunisian tenniswoman lost seven places in the latest WTA ranking published this Monday, falling 61st in the world, its lowest level for several years.
Currently engaged in the Berlin Gazon Tournament (WTA 500), Jabeur crossed the first qualifying round by beating the French Elsa Jacquemot (113rd) in three hanging sets (4-6, 7-5, 7-6). But she then bowed in the second round against the Chinese Xinyu Wang (49th), on the score of 1-6, 6-3, 0-6.
Despite this elimination, the Tunisian benefited from a draft as “Lucky Loser”, which allows her to access the main draw. She faces the American Caroline Dolehide on Monday, ranked 64th in Monday.
As a reminder, Ons Jabeur had triumphed in Berlin in 2022, a tournament which remains one of the significant moments of his grass career.
