Monday, June 23, explosions sounded in Doha. According to several media, Iran has pulled missiles on American military bases located in Qatar. This attack comes in response to the strikes launched by the United States, two days earlier, against three Iranian nuclear installations.
CNN, citing Iranian state television, reports that Iran clearly claimed this operation, called “announcement of victory”, launching at least six missiles to Qatar. The targets are near the Al-Uudeid base, the largest American military base in the Gulf. It would house nearly 10,000 American soldiers and civilians. The Qatari authorities have not yet officially communicated on the origin of detonations.
During the night of June 21 to 22, the United States struck three strategic nuclear sites in Iran. This operation rekindled tensions throughout the region. In response, Iran quickly announced that it would take reprisal measures against American interests in the Middle East.
A few hours before these explosions, Qatar suspended its air traffic. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that it has made this decision as a precaution, due to the rapid deterioration of the regional situation.
