The 49th edition of the Dougga International Festival will be held from June 28 to July 8, 2025, according to an announcement published by the organizing committee on the official event page.
As in 2024, when the 48th edition was held over a similar period, the organizers made the choice to program the festival from the start of the summer. Objective: to increase the visibility of this major cultural meeting and to attract an ever-largest audience to one of the most beautiful archaeological sites in Tunisia.
Faced with the challenge of accommodation – the region with only one hotel – an innovative solution has been retained: the reception of festival -goers with the locals. Inspired by practices already widespread internationally, this formula was integrated as part of the “Visit Dougga” program, launched officially on February 24, 2025.
This initiative is brought in partnership with the municipality of Téboursouk and Swiss cooperation, with a view to developing cultural and solidarity tourism.
A call for candidates was thus launched from the inhabitants of Téboursouk and Dougga wishing to open their door to visitors. A commitment charter will supervise this form of hospitality, ensuring safety, comfort and quality of reception.
Beyond the show, the festival promises a real immersion in the local culture: discovery of the architectural heritage, transmission of artisanal know-how, tasting of regional specialties … So many experiences that will give this 49th edition a very special flavor.
