An important attempt to smuggle drugs was thwarted Tuesday by the Tunisian customs services at the port of La Goulette Nord. No less than 10,075 Ecstasy tablets were seized in the luggage of a traveler from the port of Marseille.
According to a press release from the Directorate General of Customs, the illicit goods was carefully hidden inside a vacuum cleaner and a machine to cut the meat, distributed over a total weight of approximately 5 kg. It was after a meticulous excavation that the customs agents were able to discover this hidden cargo.
A seizure report was drawn up on the spot. After consultation with the prosecution, the file was sent to the competent security services to deepen the survey and identify any networks involved in this drug trafficking operation.
This seizure is part of the continuous efforts of the customs authorities to combat drug trafficking through the country’s sea entry points.
