On June 9, 2025, in Foussana, in the governorate of Kasserine, a physical education teacher was the victim of a violent assault after having monitored the baccalaureate exams.
Zoubeir Gmati, in charge of monitoring an event, would have surprised a student cheating. Shortly after, according to the testimony relayed on Facebook by his brother Lotfi Ben Ali Gmati, the teacher was attacked with a stick by the student in question and his father.
“You are going to monitor the baccalaureate tests … You do your job … and you are intercepted by your neighbors armed with sticks … You get beaten up,” said his brother with bitterness, testifying to his shock and his sadness in the face of this act of violence.
The news of this assault quickly circulated on social networks, arousing a wave of indignation. Many Internet users have denounced this act and shared images showing Zoubeir Gmati bedridden in the hospital, testifying to the seriousness of his injuries.
