The misadventure continues for Ons Jabeur. The Tunisian player, a double finalist in Wimbledon, was forced to abandon this Monday in her first match against Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova.
Visibly physically reduced, Jabeur asked for a medical dead time at the start of the second set, when she had just lost the first round in the tie-break (6-7) and was led 0-2. In tears, she left the court under the applause, unable to continue.
This new hard blow comes as she struggles to find her best level from a shoulder injury contracted on the eve of the US Open 2024. An abandonment heavy in a tournament she likes so much, and which leaves doubt about the rest of her season.
